A
few thoughts after listening to Ignacy Jan Paderewski’s Complete Works for Violin and Grand Piano CD recorded by
Sławomir Tomasik (violin) and Robert Morawski (pianoforte)
- This is a championship, five-star
performance!
- Both artists are fully mature
performers, who implement the concepts of the composer with a deep sense
of responsibility, personal understanding, instrumental vivacity, inner
space and in excellent partnership.
- Once again, I have seen how
important it is for me to be able to immerse myself in the world of an
artist, listening to many of his works uninterrupted. I believe that these
two performers managed to express the sensitivity, ideas and emotions of
the composer in a way which closely approaches perfection.
- In my view, Paderewski’s oeuvre
is clearly epic, so I have been listening to his works as if they formed a
single, never-ending story. The
performers not only comprehended its contents perfectly well, but they
also presented it in such a clear and understandable manner as if it were
contemporary to us, although it obviously belongs to the world of
yesterday.
- A perfect rendition of the songs
based on the poetry of Asnyk, a brilliant Cadence from Allegro de Concert –
masterfully performed by Professor S. Tomasik!
- The booklet includes an excellent
text by Lech Dzierżanowski and its attractive graphic concept was authored
by Agnieszka Tomasik.
- This CD deserves great praise and
international promotion.
