REFLECTION about Aleksandra ŚWIGUT, pianist

  • Yesterday, on  October 7, 2021, I watched on television Aleksandra Świgut’s performance during the first stage of the Chopin competition, and I was deeply impressed by what I heard.
  • It would not be adequate in any way to call her a skilled pianist.   As far as I am concerned, Ms. Świgut owns something much more valuable than piano skills. She is a unique, absolutely original, and individual TALENT.
  • In my opinion, all pianists have something in common in their playing, regardless of their greatness. For my own use, I call this kalkbrenneration or ekierance.
  • Aleksandra Świgut is one of the two exceptions I know. Actually, I have never heard similar playing anywhere.
  • It seems hardly possible to make any predictions about her progress in the competition and the dramaturgy of Ms. Świgut's professional future, as they range between the first prize and not being admitted to the finals. Judgments of the Competition Jury are sometimes unpredictable. After all, De gustibus non est disputandum.
  • Let us leave the assessment of the professionalism of Ms. Świgut to piano laboratory experts. For my part, I can only confess that my emotions after listening to her yesterday's performance kept me awake all night.
  • To Aleksandra Świgut, I dare say: You, do you! BE YOURSELF!
  • Chopin to his pupils: "Music should speak; the pianist should sing".
